By accessing or using the publicsafetyapi.dev API, developer portal, or any associated services ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
publicsafetyapi.dev provides programmatic access to US public safety facility data — police stations, fire stations, hospitals, and EMS bases — sourced from HIFLD (Homeland Infrastructure Foundation-Level Data), maintained by DHS/CISA. The Service normalizes, geocodes, and serves this data via a REST API.
Access to the API requires an API key issued through your account. You are responsible for keeping your API key confidential. Do not share keys across multiple users or organizations — each developer or application should use its own key. You are responsible for all usage associated with your key.
If you believe your key has been compromised, delete it and generate a new one immediately from your dashboard.
You may use the Service to build applications, conduct research, or integrate public safety facility data into your products. You may not:
Each plan includes a monthly request quota. Requests that exceed the monthly limit will be rejected with a 402 error until your quota resets. Monthly quotas reset on the first day of each calendar month. See the pricing page for plan details.
All data is sourced from federal government datasets and is provided as-is. publicsafetyapi.dev makes no guarantees about the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of the data. Do not use this data as a sole source for emergency response, legal proceedings, or decisions with significant life-safety consequences. Always verify critical information with local authorities.
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. The Service may be modified, suspended, or discontinued at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to communicate planned downtime in advance.
Paid subscriptions are billed monthly. You may cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. No refunds are issued for partial months. The free tier is available indefinitely with no credit card required.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, abuse the Service, or engage in fraudulent activity. You may delete your account at any time from your profile page or by contacting hello@districtapi.dev.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM. WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles.
